Learning to love the way Christ loves

At Bville FIRST,  our mission is simple — we want everyone to know Jesus and experience the incredible love God has for them!

When a person accepts Christ into their life, they begin

a new life.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

When you put God at the center of your life and seek a strong relationship with Him, you will find your direction and discover your purpose in life.

We hope that during these uncertain times in our world, you will experience a peace and understanding of God's love for you through these messages and in the music.

We pray that we will be able to meet face to face soon and rejoice in God's love and mercy for us together again.

Some History

First UMC Barboursville's roots go back almost to the beginning of Barboursville itself. Not long after there were people living where the Mud River and the Guyandotte meet, Methodists were meeting together. A family gave some land for a church building, which gave way to another worship space on the hill (connected with the old Morris Harvey school), and then in 1922 the current church was built in its present location at the corner of Main Street and Water Street. In the late 1800s the Barboursville Methodist Church gave birth to the Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, now located about half a mile south of First Church in Barboursville.
